HealthWIZ
In 1990 the Australian
Department of Health and Ageing embarked on a major initiative
to establish HealthWIZ, the National Social Health Statistical Data
Library, for the collection, analysis and dissemination of reliable
and comprehensive health related statistical data. Prometheus Information
was chosen to design and administer this project, a task we continue
to this day.
The Department continues to support this initiative as a part of
its commitment to providing easy public access to Australia's key
health and welfare information, and as such HealthWIZ remains available
to users in the Australian health sector at no cost.

information can be found at the official HealthWIZ website: http://www.healthwiz.com.au/
What is HealthWIZ?
The HealthWIZ product consists of:
- a large health data library
- a powerful, yet easy-to-use software package that accesses the data
library
HealthWIZ does more than provide users access to statistical data.
It adds significant value to the data by including a number of statistical
computations such as age-standardised rates, indices, confidence
intervals and z-scores. In addition generally used performance measures
such as length of stay and occupied bed days are built into the
datasets where appropriate.
HealthWIZ allows users to interrogate the data, to drill down to
local areas and to analyse trends of specific relevance to their
day-to-day responsibilities. The integrated presentation tools allow
users to extract precisely the data that is of interest and immediately
present this data in tables, maps and graphs. Users can then export
this information directly into their reports. All of this is managed
through an intuitive menu driven 'point and click' interface.
